Tom Cleveland
Managing Partner | Founding Partner & Principal Owner
Tom Cleveland is a veteran finance executive with over five decades of experience in banking, institutional turnarounds, and regulatory leadership. As a founding partner of Access Business Finance, he is deeply involved in all facets of the business, personally reviewing and approving every credit decision alongside co-founder Doug McDonald. This hands-on approach ensures that every transaction reflects the firm’s core values of thoughtful credit structuring, consistent reliability, and long-term partnerships.
Tom began his career at Bank of America in 1971, where he developed a strong foundation in financial services and international banking. He later served as President and CEO of Gibraltar Savings of Washington, leading a major turnaround that positioned the institution for long-term growth.
He went on to found Enterprise Bank, serving as Chairman and CEO. Under his leadership, the bank became a leading lender to professionals and small businesses before being acquired by Washington Mutual.
Tom has also played a prominent role in financial governance. He served as Chairman of the Twelfth District Advisory Council to the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and as Director and Audit Committee Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank’s Seattle Branch.
With deep expertise in bank leadership, regulatory policy, and strategic operations, Tom is widely regarded as a trusted authority in the financial services industry.


Doug McDonald
Managing Partner | Founding Partner & Principal Owner
Doug McDonald is a seasoned finance executive with over 40 years of experience in institutional banking, entrepreneurial finance, and operational leadership. As a founding partner of Access Business Finance, he remains deeply involved in all aspects of the firm. Together with co-founder Tom Cleveland, Doug personally reviews and approves every credit decision, ensuring each transaction reflects the company’s values of thoughtful credit structuring, reliability, and long-term borrower partnerships.
Doug began his career at Deloitte & Touche as a Certified Public Accountant advising financial institutions. He went on to serve as Vice President and Treasurer at Westside Federal, where he played a key role in one of the earliest IPOs of a savings and loan institution. As President, and earlier CFO of Gibraltar Savings of Washington, he led a successful institutional turnaround and positioned the bank for long-term growth.
Doug later co-founded Enterprise Bank, serving as CFO and COO. Under his leadership, the bank became a key lender to professionals and small businesses and was ultimately acquired by Washington Mutual.
Today, Doug continues to guide Access Business Finance’s strategic direction, working closely with borrowers and stakeholders. His leadership emphasizes practical risk assessment, responsive client service, and a commitment to creative, integrity-driven lending.


Andrew Rieke
Director of Business Development
Andrew Rieke is Director of Business Development at Access Business Finance, where he has been instrumental in helping companies unlock growth through asset-based lending solutions since 2018. With more than 17 years of experience across sales, marketing, and credit risk management, Andrew brings a strategic and client-centric approach to every engagement.
Before joining Access Business Finance, Andrew spent seven years at Allianz Trade (formerly Euler Hermes), the world’s largest credit insurer. There, he specialized in helping businesses protect and leverage their receivables through innovative credit insurance strategies. His deep expertise in credit structuring, combined with a consultative style, makes him a trusted partner to both clients and financial advisors.
Andrew is actively involved in the business finance community. He served as President of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association in 2024 and continues to play a leadership role on its board. He has also contributed to the Denver chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth through various committee roles.
Based in Colorado, Andrew enjoys exploring the mountains with his family, snowboarding during the winter, golfing in the summer, and supporting his two daughters on the soccer field, often accompanied by their Golden Retriever.


Kade Townsend
Director of Business Development
Since joining Access Business Finance in 2021, Kade Townsend has played a pivotal role in expanding the firm’s footprint in both asset-based and real estate lending. Based in Bellevue, Washington, he draws on his background in commercial banking to structure private debt solutions for middle-market businesses facing complex financial situations such as high leverage, corporate restructuring, and accelerated growth. He focuses on building strategic relationships and delivering flexible, creative capital solutions that support long-term success.
He is an active member of the West Coast and Northwest dealmaking communities and participates in several professional associations, including the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), Turnaround Management Association (TMA), and Risk Management Association (RMA).
Kade holds a BBA from Gonzaga University, where he concentrated in Economics and Finance. He gained his previous commercial banking experience at Heritage Financial Corporation.
Outside of the office, you’ll find him refining his golf and tennis game and cheering on the Gonzaga Bulldogs.


Jose Tamez
Director of Operations
Jose has been with Access Business Finance for over 21 years, bringing invaluable experience and deep institutional knowledge to his role as Director of Operations. In this capacity, he oversees the Access team responsible for day-to-day operations with our borrowers, emphasizing the importance of customer service in every interaction.
Since joining Access in 2004 as an Assistant Account Manager, Jose has consistently advanced through key roles including Account Manager and Senior Account Manager. His leadership now spans operational strategy, client account management, staff development, and coordination with credit underwriting and operational technology systems.
Prior to Access, Jose served as an auditor for the State of California, where he gained valuable experience in regulatory compliance and financial analysis. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Eastern Washington University.
Jose’s operational expertise, long-standing commitment to client success, and dedication to excellence make him a cornerstone of Access Business Finance’s continued growth.


Sam West
Director of Credit and Underwriting
Sam brings extensive expertise in asset-based lending to his role as Director of Credit and Underwriting at Access Business Finance. He leads the underwriting function with precision, overseeing all aspects of credit analysis, loan structure, and loan documentation. Sam collaborates closely with the firm’s operating team to ensure the seamless and secure execution of credit facilities. Known for his hands-on, client-focused approach, he works directly with businesses to structure customized financing solutions.
Before joining Access, Sam played a pivotal role at Greater Bay Business Funding, a division of Greater Bay Bank. There, he managed a diverse portfolio of revolving credit lines backed by accounts receivable and inventory, while also spearheading underwriting for both new and existing clients. His strategic leadership and risk oversight significantly strengthened portfolio performance and client outcomes.
Earlier in his career, Sam built his analytical foundation with credit analyst roles at IFC Credit Corporation and Firstcorp. These positions honed his skills in credit evaluation, financial analysis, and risk management, laying the groundwork for his current leadership role.
Sam’s well-rounded background, spanning underwriting, legal oversight, operations coordination, and relationship management, makes him a vital contributor to Access Business Finance’s success and a key architect of its credit platform.
