On October 29, 2014, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Access Doug McDonald, participated in the panel presentation “Scary Lending Stories” for the Denver RMA chapter luncheon.  Joining Doug, was Thad Allen, Chief Credit Officer of Zions Bank and Tennyson Grebenar, Partner at the law firm of Lewis Roca Rothgerber.  The presentation and luncheon were sponsored by Access and were coordinated by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the RMA,  along with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Denver Branch.



The October 16, 2014, Roger Anderson of Access, attended the Oregon Economic Forum.  The forum featured economic presentations from professors at the University of Oregon, University of California at Berkeley and the Brookings Institution.


The October 7, 2014 Dinner Meeting of the Puget Sound Chapter of the RMA was sponsored by Access.  The topic of “What to Expect from the Region’s Economy and Real Estate Markets in 2015″ was presented by Matthew J.D. Gardner, Principal of Nabe, Gardner Economics, who also chairs the Board of Trustees at the Washington Center  for Real Estate Research.


As part of Access’ ongoing support of the various chapters of the Risk Management Association, Access sponsored the Annual Three Chapter Golf Tournament in Salt Lake City.  Doug McDonald’s golf prowess led his foursome to overtake the field and achieve the covetable position of coming in dead last in the tournament.



Joining Jack Bertges, Access Business Finance was the proud co-sponsor of the 21st Annual “Out to Lunch” golf outing held at the Presidio Golf Course in San Francisco.  Access has co-sponsored this event for the past 4 years.  The golf outing benefits the San Francisco and Marin Food Bank and raises over $50,000 annually and has raised over $375,000 in contributions for the Food Bank for the past 17 years.  Tom Cleveland, Co-Founder and Managing Partner attends the event annually.



Access sponsored the Denver RMA chapter meeting in late September as part of its new sponsorship program with the RMA.  Doug McDonald, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Access, has committed to sponsoring a number of functions in support of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Risk Management Association in the coming year.


Tom Cleveland, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Access Business Finance spoke at the CAMPS South Round Table. His presentation included:

  • An update on general conditions of commercial lending
  • Why traditional banks are limited in how they can help manufacturers;
  • The basics of alternative financing from non-regulated institutions;
  • Understanding the true cost of alternative financing;
  • How alternative financing can be used as a growth tool; and
  • Numerous manufacturing-related lending examples.


Tom Cleveland, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Access Business Finance spoke at the CAMPS North Round Table. His topic was Capital Alternatives for Growth or Liquidity. For many manufacturers, Account-Receivable Factoring and Asset-Based Lending have negative connotation. The talk demonstrated how both financing options have the potential to be high-value tools for accessing the capital needed for either growth of liquidity.


Access Business Finance Hosted its Annual Blue Angels Luncheon on August 1, 2014, at the Seattle Tennis Club. The event was a resounding success with over 75 bankers attending. Access Business Finance sponsored the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Risk Management Association’s Mid-Year Economic Forecast event at the Biltmore Hotel & Suites. Topics included: Where are we heading in the Global Economic & Capital Markets? and What is the outlook for Silicon Valley & California? The featured speaker was Robert Griffin, SVP Regional Investment Strategist, Comerica Bank.


One of Access’ Founders and Managing Partners, Doug McDonald, presented asset based lending at the Lender’s Panel for Goldman Sachs nationwide 10,000 Small Business Program, providing funding advice for the 26 entrepreneurs enrolled in the program for the Utah region.  The program is in conjunction with Salt Lake Community College.
